How Amatsu transformed my life

At 18, I injured my lower back and began a long struggle with recurring pain - "putting my back out" twice a year, sometimes leaving me incapacitated for up to a week. This chronic cycle affected every part of my life: from dull morning headaches and sluggish digestion to persistent fatigue, heartburn and candida. I had come to accept this as normal. But I worried about what state I'd be in by middle age.

Then I was introduced to Amatsu.

The results were transformative. Recovery after an Amatsu balance was unlike anything I had experienced before. With the guidance of my practitioner, I shifted from using Amatsu reactively to using it preventively - supporting my body's alignment before issues arose. I cleaned up my diet, began a daily walking routine, and became deeply aware of the power of posture and movement. Over time, my symptoms disappeared entirely, and my health - physical, mental and emotional - was completely transformed.

That experience changed everything. It's why I do this work, and why I bring such personal understanding to every client I treat.

Training & qualifications

In 2015, I began formal training in Amatsu, qualifying as an Orthopath (Kenku level) after a rigorous five-year programme. In January 2019, I took a sabbatical from a fulfilling 25-year career in film production, opened my own Amatsu practice, and haven't looked back. No two sessions are exactly the same. The treatment is quiet and supportive, allowing the body space to release tension and begin to return to balance.

A whole-person approach to wellness

I believe that how we move, what we eat, and how we nurture ourselves have a profound and holistic effect on our well-being. Amatsu is at the heart of my practice - both as a tool for healing and for ongoing wellness - but it sits within a much broader belief in the body's innate ability to heal itself when given the right conditions.

I practise Transcendental Meditation daily and use Qi Gong, Yoga, and walking as my movement medicines. I'm passionate about the healing potential of whole, plant-based foods, and I often weave this knowledge into client sessions - helping people reconnect with their body’s natural wisdom.

My particular focus is on the role of the fascial matrix and the importance of postural alignment, balance and movement in long-term health. I love sharing what I've learned with my clients.

Before opening her Amatsu practice, Breda spent 25 years working in film production - a career she loved, but one that ultimately led her towards a deeper calling in health and healing. That background gives her a natural ease with people, an ability to really listen, and a genuine curiosity about each client's story.

Breda continues to receive regular Amatsu balances herself and is committed to her own ongoing learning and practice. She brings the same dedication to her clients that she brings to her own health.

Health Insurance: With her qualification in Orthopaedic and Soft Tissue Therapy, clients may be able to claim for treatments through VHI, Laya, Aviva and St. Paul's Garda. It's always worth checking directly with your provider, as cover can vary by plan. Please note that Irish Life does not currently offer cover for this therapy.
