“STRUCTURE GOVERNS FUNCTION” - Dr. Andrew Taylor Still
What Is Amatsu?
Amatsu is a gentle, hands-on therapy rooted in traditional Japanese medicine and the martial art of Taijutsu. Based on the principles of natural movement and anatomical balance, Amatsu works with the body’s soft tissues — including fascia (interconnective tissue), organs, ligaments, muscles, and the skeletal structure — to restore it to its natural, neutral alignment.
Often, when our bodies shift out of alignment, we don’t even notice. We adapt unconsciously, compensating for imbalances caused by stress, lifestyle, poor posture, or injury. Over time, these adaptations can build up and lead to discomfort, inflammation, fatigue, or chronic pain — the body’s way of signalling that something needs attention.
Amatsu identifies and addresses these underlying imbalances, not just the symptoms. By treating the body as a whole, it gently guides it back toward homeostasis — its natural state of balance. This rebalancing can have a profound effect on physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
Amatsu treatments are non-invasive, low-impact, and deeply respectful of the body’s natural intelligence. Sessions last 50 minutes to an hour, and clients remain fully clothed throughout. We recommend an initial series of 4 to 6 sessions for a specific issue, followed by regular maintenance to help the body stay balanced and aligned.
